Privacy Policy for Open TeleScope VR
Last updated: August 2026
Open TeleScope VR is an open-source accessibility application designed to turn a VR-mounted Android phone into digital binoculars for users with low vision.
Open TeleScope VR is a modified fork of Open Camera. You can view the original upstream privacy policy here: Open Camera Privacy Policy.
Data Collection and Usage
- No Data Collection: Open TeleScope VR does not collect, store, track, or transmit any personal data, user analytics, device identifiers, or telemetry.
- Local Processing: All camera feeds, zoom adjustments, color filter processing, and keyboard/gamepad commands are handled entirely and locally on your device in real-time.
- Camera and Hardware Permissions: The app uses the device camera and storage access exclusively to render the live optical feed. No images, video recordings, or personal data are ever saved externally or shared with any third party.
- Inherited Location Permission: Because Open TeleScope VR is a fork of Open Camera, a location permission toggle remains present in the app manifest (off by default) which was originally used for optional photo geotagging. Open TeleScope VR does not use, track, or access your location data, and this permission is scheduled for complete removal in a future update.
